Hurricane Dolly makes landfall in South Texas

McALLEN, Texas (AP) - Dolly spun into a hurricane Tuesday, heading toward the U.S.-Mexico border and the heavily populated Rio Grande Valley, where officials feared heavy rains could cause massive flooding and levee breaks.

Dolly was upgraded from a tropical storm Tuesday afternoon, and sustained winds later reached about 80 mph.

KEMP, Texas (AP) - Three people aboard a single-engine plane died Saturday after going down in a fiery crash that burned as much as two rural acres, authorities said.

It was not immediately known what caused the accident, which left the plane charred to nearly a skeleton in the middle of a scorched field.
