In 1993 at New Finland's Memorial University, founding members Alan Doyle, Sean McCann and Bob Hallett formed Great Big Sea. "We used to sing at the pubs and it was our part time job at the university," Hallett said. "We decided after many years of playing that we would try to do it full time.

Becca witnessed the death of her first and only child who was hit by an automobile driven by Jason, played by Kyle Maloney, senior theatre major.
